The Spiritual Care & Connection program exists to serve as an additional means of support for those we serve. This support is provided by GUM staff and volunteer Chaplain Assistants.
Staff and trained Chaplain Assistants are women and men who care about the well-being of our guests at GUM. Many of our guests who request help are in the middle of a life crisis, and it can be a lonely and scary journey. This team provides a listening ear, confidential support, guidance, encouragement, and prayer. Volunteers are recruited and trained throughout the year to serve in this area.
Are you a compassionate person? Are you willing to go through on-site training before you serve as a Chaplain Assistant? If you answered YES, then this may be the right volunteer role for you!
Deadline to register for next training session is August 23, 2024.
Before filling out the program application, please contact Tyra Clymer, Director of Spiritual Care and Connection at clymer@guministry.org or 336.271.5959 ext. 343.
**This department also hosts seminary interns each summer from area Divinity Schools Duke, Shaw, and Wake Forest.
