Northwest Guilford Vikings and The Summit Church Oak Ridge are scoring together in the fight against hunger.
On Friday nights this fall, the church has launched a Twitter campaign to #LoadUptheScoreboard — the church is contributing one meal for every point the Vikings score at football games.
When one of the church families heard about this partnership, they decided to multiply it. The family, which wishes to remain anonymous, is adding four more meals to each meal the church funds — so every point scored now means 5 meals are contributed to Greensboro Urban Ministry’s food programs. “We are blown away by the generosity and excited to see how God is continuing to bless this partnership,” says Amy Loflin of The Summit Church Oak Ridge.
So are we, Amy! As of October 2, 178 meals have been funded!
Greensboro Urban Ministry operates the community’s largest food pantry. Last year, the pantry provided 22,942 food assistance bags to hungry men, women and children in our community.
Thank you, Northwest Guilford High and The Summit Church!
