Flow Buick GMC has signed on as Presenting Sponsor for the Honor Card 30th Anniversary Season. General Manager Rhett Blanchard presented a check for $10,000 to artist William Mangum and Greensboro Urban Ministry Executive Director Myron Wilkins today.
“We are so pleased to be the Presenting Sponsor for the 30th season of the William Mangum Honor Card,” said Rhett Blanchard, general manager. “The commitment that Bill has shown to Greensboro Urban Ministry’s work is inspiring. This sponsorship is a way for us to applaud his commitment to fighting local hunger and homelessness. Urban Ministry does important work every day for people in our community who are in need.”
Since 1988, the William Mangum Honor Card has raised more than $4 million during the holidays to support Greensboro Urban Ministry’s programs to fight hunger, homelessness and poverty. Cards are available for a minimum $5 donation. Thanks to generous underwriting from Wells Fargo Foundation, an anonymous donor and the William Mangum Fine Art gallery, the full $5 comes directly back to fund Greensboro Urban Ministry programs.
In honor of the 30th anniversary, Greensboro Urban Ministry’s goal is to raise $300,000 this season. Last year, the program raised $272,000.
“We realize this is an ambitious goal, but with the community’s support, I am confident we will meet it,” said Executive Director Myron Wilkins. “The economy may be improving, but we see still so many men, women and families with children who are really struggling. It’s hard to imagine not having enough food to feed your children, or not having a safe, warm place to sleep on a dangerously cold night. Yet this is the reality many of our guests face every day.”
With your help this holiday season, they will not have to face it alone. You can purchase Honor Cards online or from a number of retailers and congregations. See a full list here. Thank you for your support!
