Margaret & Thornton Brooks Legacy Society

If you choose to remember GUM in your plans, you will become a member of the Margaret & Thornton Brooks Legacy Society.

When Margaret and Thornton Brooks remembered Greensboro Urban Ministry in their estate, they had a vision of helping future Greensboro generations by advancing GUM’s work to reduce homelessness and hunger.  Margaret and Thornton did not see themselves as crusaders to the cause, yet concerned residents responding to the needs of their community. They felt it was their responsibility to give back to a community that had given them so much through the years.

In naming Greensboro Urban Ministry’s Legacy Society in honor of Margaret and Thornton Brooks, GUM recognizes not only their generous commitment to helping their neighbors in need but also their belief in Luke 12:48, “to whom much has been given – much is required.”

We invite you to join The Margaret and Thornton Brooks Legacy Society.  Due to the variety of planned gifts available, wealth is not necessary, nor do you have to part with assets now. The only requirement is to have the desire to make the world a better place.  Including GUM in your will or estate plans is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in stable lives for neighbors in the next generation.

Regardless of the method or the amount, we are deeply grateful for the investment in GUM’s financial well-being to ensure there will be help available for those in need for generations to come.
