In summer 2017, Greensboro Urban Ministry began a strategic planning process that engaged Board, staff, and the community. The Board identified this as an important opportunity as the agency marked its 50th anniversary of service to the community.
Working with Armstrong McGuire, a consulting firm based in Raleigh, the agency sought input from numerous stakeholders. This work took several months to complete and involved gathering perspectives through focus groups, personal interviews and surveys.
The Board of Directors studied this feedback in two strategic retreats and began to shape an updated vision for the agency’s work. Engaging staff members at all levels of the organization, the agency’s executive leadership team prioritized strategic needs and opportunities to focus the agency’s work through 2020.
